OnePlus Nord CE - A little more than you'd expect

When OnePlus released the Original Nord on 21 July 2020, it sold very well. The specs were impressive, good cameras, Android 10, and the overall experience were A+ at that price. It was actually one of the best phones to buy under 30k.

Within a year of the Original Nord launch, OnePlus released a new mid-range smartphone, the new OnePlus Nord CE. The 'CE' here stands for 'Core Edition'. OnePlus took Original Nord and made it better. The new CE has better cameras, better chipset, better display, better battery, it's slimmer at 7.9mm thick, and guess what... It has a headphone jack; all this better made for just ₹24,999!

OnePlus build and nurtured a huge Nord Community with the Original Nord. OnePlus want to make this community even stronger with the new OnePlus Nord CE. The community will experience a better Node at an affordable price!

The new Node CE is focused on 4 major aspects: the display, powerful cameras, mobile performance, and the battery.

The Display: The OnePlus Nord CE comes with the signature OnePlus 1080p AMOLED display which is optimized with Oxygen OS. There's an Always On Display feature, and OnePlus added a 90Hz refresh rate for a smooth experience. In my opinion, it an A + display at this price.

The Cameras: The Nord CE comes with a 64MP triple camera setup which includes a 64MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide camera with 119-degree field of view, a 2MP monochrome camera, and a 16MP front camera. This camera system offers many features like Nightscape, UltraShot HDR, Portrait, Panorama, Pro mode, Smart scene, AI recognition, and a couple of filters.

The software also plays a major role in capturing the image. When you take a photo, it takes up to 8 different frames at different exposures and combines them to produce sharp and balanced photos that you can get on a smartphone.

The colours are more vibrant, sharp and balanced, enhancing the photo experience for the Node community.

When it comes to videos, Nord's camera can capture 4k resolution video at 30fps, 1080p at 60fps, slow motion up to 1080p at 120fps; 720p at 240fps and time-lapse of 1080p at 30fps; 4k at 30fps... I know it sounds like too many numbers :)) To be clear, the video quality is not wow, but it's very good.

The performance: This phone packs Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G 5G processor with Adreno 619 RAM with LPDDR fast storage. This delivers amazing performance whether you are multitasking or gaming. In addition, 5G connectivity allows you to explore more.

The Battery: There is a 4500mAH battery that can stay all day without running out on normal usage. It supports 30T Plus fast charging, which gives 70% in only 30 minutes.

In conclusion, the Nord CE is a value for money package. Many other phones in the market, such as the Xiaomi 11x and the IQOO 7, offer a better chipset than the Nord on 5k extra. But, it's not the Chipset alone; the core is software and the software optimization that the device offers. With good software optimization, the phone's life span will improve, and you get a fluid experience for many years without any hiccups. OnePlus has nailed software optimization on almost every release. In addition, OnePlus promises 2 years of guaranteed software updates on the Nord CE.

So, if you are looking for a phone within the range of 25k - 30k, OnePlus Nord CE is a better deal packed with sleek software, core specs for daily operations, and have a better experience. If so, OnePlus can be your pick with a better package at a better price!
